Last Week's Friday Night Fun

It was so great to see everyone out last Friday, 22 July supporting the Friday Night Meat Raffle. Always a well attended event supporting our Veterans but even more so as the excitement was built up by the Members' Cash Draw. Last Friday night we were able to keep drawing until the lucky winner was announced. Surprisingly it took only until the third draw when Social Member Glenn Hillier's number was drawn - congratulations Glenn!

New Members' Cash Draw Giveaway Format

Every Two Weeks a $1000 Will be WON! From September we are excited to announce Members' Cash Draw will be drawn twice a month with a GRAND ($1,000.00) guaranteed to be won each time by one of our members. Every first Sunday of the month coinciding with our Super Sunday Presentations with a Live Band it will include a $1,000 Members' Cash Draw and then the third Friday of each month, a $1,000 Members' Cash Draw will take place after the Meat Raffle. That's a GRAND every two weeks that will be guaranteed to go to one of our lucky members who just needs to be present to see their number drawn to WIN just like Glenn did!

Vets' AGM Update

Well, at long last we were able to hold the Veterans 23rd Annual General Meeting on Monday, 25 July.  Unfortunately, no golf was possible however the sky was blue and the temperature was warm for a Winter's day, so most of those present sat outside for the BBQ and beer after the AGM.  We had 21 Members plus the Committee present, significantly down on the 62 last year.  Obviously, the fact that we could not play golf caused the drop in attendees.

Since our AGM in 2021, our Chairman of some 10 years, Charles Titmuss passed away and since then Charles Kinder has very kindly and enthusiastically, held the position of Acting Chairman.  Additionally, our Secretary, Steve Webster decided to retire so his position had to be filled.  Fortunately, we had 2 Members who wished to be nominated which returned the Committee to its usual number of 6.  The make-up of the Committee for the ensuing 12 months, is as follows: -

Charles Kinder - Chairman (he was elected unopposed)

  • Scott Beatty - Captain
  • Yaros Iwanec - Treasurer
  • Alex Bathgate - Committee Member
  • Bruce Durham - Committee Member
  • Wilfred Lazar - Committee Member

At our next committee meeting, we will elect a new Secretary and the result will be conveyed to Members via the 19th News.

We wish to thank all those Club employees who assisted in arranging the Auditorium, the admin required for the AGM and the half-way bar facilities, as well as our cooks and volunteer wives who buttered the bread rolls.  Everyone's assistance enabled the often postponed occasion to run very smoothly.

Finally, a word of thanks to Steve Webster for his 8 years as a member of the Vets Committee.  His contribution over those years was much appreciated and we wish him well for the future.

Scott Beatty - Vets' Captain

The 16 who play, must pay an Entry fee of $10.00 before the first round.  Please place this in an envelope and leave it in the Vets slot in the locker room.

Cheryl Ward is collecting 5 cent pieces for 'The Shepherds Foundation' charity and we need more to reach the target that we have set.  Please bring along any 5 cent pieces that you can get your hands on and give them to Cheryl.

Beer Price Increase

Dear Members, We are writing to advise you of some important changes to beer prices which will come into effect from 1 September, 2022.

As you may be aware, the federal government impose twice-yearly beer excise increases in February and August each year.

The Club absorbed the February rise, however the government excise together with the ongoing pressure of supply chain rises which are being passed along by the producers are significant.

Naturally the beer producers pass along the government increase and like the rest of us, they have also cited additional imposts which are impacting their businesses including increases in the following:

  • Global shipping costs 250% - 300%
  • Aluminium 25% - 30%
  • Sugar 5% - 10%
  • Malt supply 15% -20%
  • Pulp and paper 5% - 10%
  • Global/domestic fuel costs 40% - 50%

Our priority is to ensure your club remains sustainable and that we may continue to provide safe and high-quality service at competitive rates.  Accordingly, in the main, we will increase prices by approximately 5% from 1 September.

Management
