Clubhouse Upgrade Announcement

The current Clubhouse has served us well for more than 20 years but needs an upgrade to better appeal to current members and guests, while also attracting new visitors.

The main objectives of this initiative are:

  • Better utilise and replace the largely vacant and unused Auditorium space with a modern, contemporary bar and gaming area.
  • Move gaming and betting away from the Club Lounge to provide a separated and more family-friendly area.
  • Provide more flexibility to members and guests in family, social, sporting and formal events.

In doing so, we become more attractive to our members and local community, and cater to a greater range of ages, demographics and social situations.

To meet these objectives, the below plans show the following:

  1. Sports Bar A one-stop sports precinct with a mega screen and upgraded sound capable of displaying sports or entertainment in a variety of configurations. This includes a new bar with a greater range of beverages and cocktail options, and separated gaming and betting facilities.
  2. Club Lounge A quieter and more relaxed environment that will appeal to families, members and guests, away from the noise of gaming and betting.

Off the back of solid financial performance in recent years, this is another carefully considered investment in the Club that is a win for members both now and into the future. Combined with the new 18th hole, riding new carts on new pathways, or enjoying a social drink at the upgraded Halfway Bar, this positions North Ryde Golf Club as an even more attractive golfing and social destination.

The new configuration affords us the opportunity to create better sporting facilities and family-friendly areas, while still being able to host traditional member events such as Commemoration Dinner, Members' and Women's Christmas functions and Diggers' Day.

Importantly, it also provides many new social and sporting opportunities.

We are pleased to present the following plans and share the exciting renovation news, which continues the investment and improvement in the Club.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much will it cost? $705K for the new Bar fit out and Gaming relocation; $64K for the upgraded Administration area and approximately $200K for the furnishings and video equipment.
  • Will the Club still have functions? Yes, in fact the new configuration will allow either area to be dedicated to suit an event including a demountable dance floor. Large evening functions can be held across the Club Lounge and Dining Room.
  • Will there be an increase in Gaming & Betting? No, there will be 2 separate areas and new configurations, but the total number of Gaming Licences and TAB are not changing.
  • Will you stock and carry new drinks? It is the Club’s intention to offer Cocktails/Mocktails and have a wider selection of wine, champagne, gin and whisky.
  • What will the Club do with the old Gaming Room? There are a few options, but no decision has been made. It is expected that this area will be vacant in the short term.
  • Will the Club continue with the existing Catering? The Catering Contract is up for renewal and the Club will be issuing an Expression of Interest shortly. The successful Contractor will need to be able to cater for the new facilities and arrangements.
  • When do we start? We plan to commence after Anzac Day.
  • Will this impact normal operations? This will be minimal as most work will be done behind an enclosed wall.
  • How long will the upgrade take? The estimated time for completion is the end of August.
