2020 & Fee Increases

Many Members have raised the concern this week that Your Board is on record stating that Your Club has performed well this year, despite everything that has happened.

True.

I would like, therefore, to explain on behalf of Management and Your Board some of the specifics behind the decisions to increase Competition Fees and related matters.

Here are some irrefutable facts:

Time to Celebrate

Saturday night's "Christmas Dinner" was a great night to celebrate not only the Christmas Season but also the announcement of our "Club Person of the Year" Joan Flaherty! Congratulations to Joan and our three wonderful runners up Gordon Edwards, Jacky Parsons and Phil Town

Grant Newsome took to the stage getting everyone in the mood to celebrate! Good food, friends, a sense of camaraderie, wonderful music and entertainment supported by the service from our dedicated staff added to this great night!

Just a small snap shot below of some of the fun!

Ladies Update

With our present one tee start on Tuesdays it is not possible to run a separate 9 hole competition. However, if any ladies wish to just play 9 holes on a Tuesday they can be accommodated in the main competition. Please contact one of the Ladies' Committee.

Our Pennant Co-ordinator, Judy Edmiston, will be approaching ladies in the appropriate handicap range for the Silver 11 Salver, starting on Friday 12th February. Minimum GA handicap is 14.0. Pennants is a great way to improve your golf and play as part of a team representing your Club. If you don't hear from Judy but would like to be considered for the team, please contact her.

Vet's News

The engraved plaques for the winners of the North Ryde GC Vets Championships in 2018 were not earlier distributed to the recipients and we still have 3 plaques available for collection from the Club Office. They will be retained at the Office until after the Hams Day on Monday 14th December, after which they will be recycled.

Members who have yet to collect them are: Chris Gordon, Young Bai Kim and Barry McGeown.

Charles Kinder advises that only a few NRGC members have renewed their membership of the NSW Vets, and the closing date for renewal has now passed. If someone still interested contacts him URGENTLY, he MAY be able to slip it through the system.

A priest, a doctor, a rich businessman and a Scotsman were waiting one morning for a particularly slow group of golfers in front of them.

The doctor said, "I've never seen such poor golf!"

The Scotsman chimed in, "Aye! We ha' been waitin' for nigh on fifteen minutes!"

The businessman called out, "Move it you guys, time is money."
The priest said, "Here comes George the greens-keeper. Let's have a word with him."
"Hello, George!" Said the priest, "What's wrong with that group ahead of us? They're rather slow, aren't they?"
George the greens-keeper replied, "Oh, yes. That's a group of blind fire fighters. They lost their sight saving our clubhouse from a fire last year, so we always let them play for free, anytime they want to."

The group fell silent for a moment.
The priest said, "That's so sad. I think I will say a special prayer for them tonight."
The doctor said, "Good idea. I'm going to contact my ophthalmologist colleagues and see if there's anything they can do for them."
The businessman replied, "I think I'll donate $350,000 to the fire-fighters in honour of these brave souls."

The Scotsman said, "Why can't they play at night?"
