Temporary Course Ratings

We have now received our TEMP ratings from Golf NSW which will be used while the 14th hole is out of play with the current upgrade. There are 2 ratings, TEMP A ratings will be used when the 15th hole is played from the normal tees and TEMP B is for when the 15th hole is played from the Tee's next to the 13th Green.

Please see ratings chart. Your rounds played on the TEMP course so far have now been sent to golflink.

Please Note: Those games played prior to the TEMP ratings coming through on the shortened holes will note their game dates show on golf link as the 8th so correct rating applies.

Around the Course

Firstly, let me start by saying from myself and the staff "Happy New Year and I hope to see you all out enjoying our great golf course".

This time of year, we see an increase in grass growth, due to high temperatures which favour conditions for growth. Staff are working hard to ensure each week that the surfaces are all cut including all roughs.

Over the last week you would have seen some discolouration happening on the 14th fairway and green surrounds. This was poisoned off to help with the transition of turf species as well as aid the construction process.

Construction on the 14th hole officially started Monday, 8 January. I expect the area to be closed for close to 6 months as we will need to establish all playing surfaces.

Please follow all signs which are in place around the course for the temporary holes 2A, 2B and the shortened 15th hole.

Staff are utilising turf from the 14th to extend some greens to provide members and guests additional pin positions on holes where green surrounds have encroached over a number of years. Holes 2 and 6 are the focus.

Bunker works continue with sand levels being checked for the appropriate depths. Sand will be added as required.

Wednesday Nights Free TRIVIA is Back

We welcome back our Trivia buffs as Wednesday night TRIVIA resumes next week on January 17. Bring your answers to the above homework question for an extra point. In 2024 we are no longer taking Trivia Bookings, so we suggest join us a little earlier if you have a particular table preference. It's a 7:00pm start for TRIVIA, grab your team, friends or family. You don't have to be a diehard Trivia buff for a great night - everyone welcome!

Vets Hams Day Qualification 2024: As announced at our Hams Day last month, the qualification criteria for receiving a ham in 2024 has changed. Those changes are as follows: -

1. The additional $2 playing fee has been abolished.

2. The requirement that a certain number of games must be played for a Member to receive a ham, has also been abolished. Such has been replaced by 3.

3. As per the Men's Hams Day, recipients of a ham will be decided on the results of the 2 Ball Team and Individual Stableford game played that day. Winners in each Division will receive a full ham, so too the winners of the 2 Ball event.

4. The ham rundown will be based on the 2 Ball results and not the Single Stableford scores. Players cannot win more than one ham.

5. The only stipulation is that you must be present at the presentation to receive your ham, or you will miss out. Should a Member be unable to remain after their round for a specific and genuine reason, this must be advised to a Committee Member, together with the name of the nominated person who will collect the ham on your behalf.

Many of you may have noticed the very smart Coopers Black Bar Fridge in the Sports Bar leading up to Christmas and the New Year, with a buy any Coopers to enter for your chance to win.

We are very excited to announce the winner, Member Peter Findlay.

Peter was certainly smiling and adding to his New Year cheer with the prize of the Coopers Bar Fridge, a perfect size to chill his beer for the summer. Thanks Coopers and Congratulations once again Peter!

Kids Room
As of Wednesday, 3 January we opened a new facility: a play area especially for children of Members and Visitors of North Ryde Golf Club. The Kids' Room is the ideal space for your children / grandchildren to play in while you relax and enjoy a drink and/or a meal.

The Kids' Room will have a PS5 with a big screen TV, skill testers*, racing car game* and a couple more games still to come! *There is a small cost to use some games - payment is by token, which can be purchased from a terminal in the Kids' Room.

Please note there will be no supervision of the room by Club Staff - parents / guardians remain responsible for their children, wherever they are in the Club.

Our Weekly Friday Night Meat Raffles will be back! 18 trays of quality meat from our local butcher to be won. This is followed by our Members' Cash Draw recommencing at $700, increasing by $100 each week if not claimed on the night by the Member in the Club who is drawn. If not won, the CASH Jackpots to $2,000. On the Jackpot Night it's guaranteed to go to a lucky Member in attendance!

Saturday 10 February - Super Saturday
Super Saturday with FREE Live Music will be back once again on Saturday, 10 February with $1,000 Members Cash Draw guaranteed to be won. Take the opportunity to listen to some laid back favourite tunes from 4pm and celebrate the win of our Golfers in November, December & January 2024. It's going to be a great event. All welcome - it's a great way to enjoy your Saturday evening with the ability to enjoy a meal out on our deck with some of the best views in Sydney on a lovely summers evening.
