Hole-in-One

Hole-In-One - what are the odds? Sinking a hole-in-one is an achievement every golfer aspires to, whether an amateur or a pro. Pros obviously have the advantage but plenty of amateurs accomplish an ace - though many will go their whole golfing career without one.

Today we celebrate our latest our Hole-in-One achievers!

One of our Hole-in-One achievers is Marg Castle pictured being presented a pin to mark the occasion from the Women's President. Marg who recently joined the Club, celebrated a hole in one on the 3rd on Tuesday 10 May, what a way to start her membership with us!

Congratulations once again to all those who over the past few months will have their names added to the Hole-in-One glass board downstairs later in the year.

Veterans' AGM

North Ryde Juniors

North Ryde Juniors are at it again.

Congratulations to the NSW Girls Team winning the Australian Interstate Teams Match at St Michael's Golf Club 11 May with a superb six-matches-two win over a gallant South Australian Team. Two of our talented home grown Juniors, Rachelle Lee & June Song were part of this amazing group of sports women.

Congratulations also to Junior Member Enzo Moon, competing in the 2023 North Coast Junior Masters on the weekend of Saturday and Sunday 6 & 7 May at Kew Country Club. After a very tight battle he came 2nd. Congratulations Enzo.

Mother's Day at the Club

We hope all Mums have an amazing Mother’s Day and that you feel truly appreciated on your special day. We thank our mums for laughing with us in the best of times and sticking with us through the worst of times! What would we do without you? Happy Mother's Day!

All the mum's celebrating with us at the Dragon on the Green for lunch or dinner on Sunday will also enjoy their time at the Club, with their free glass of bubbles to celebrate their special day!

Grab & Go!

As the winter approaches and the days become shorter we lose valuable tee times. What this means is that in order to maximise the tee spots available, we need all members to continue working together. In addition to playing "Ready Golf" and complying with our Pace of Play policy, for the next few months when the 10^th tee is free, grab and go. There is no compulsory break at Halfway, please Grab and Go!

Women Veterans' Notes

A little history of the VWGA of NSW. It was first formed in 1950 by Mrs Ella Blackhouse and Miss Kathleen Armstrong both of Manly Golf Club. The NSW Association was the first formed outside of England therefore becoming the Australian "parent" body, as other States followed later.

If you have been an event winner in the past, go to www.vwgansw.org.au and click on Galleries. You may find some interesting photos of North Ryde winners.

Their next events coming up are Wollongong on Monday, 29 May and Marrickville on Friday, 23 June, both are 2BBB events and there is still time to enter.

Our 9 hole comp on Thursdays is being well supported, winners balls are entered onto your account at the Pro Shop ready to collect, or you can leave on your account. Tuesday ball winners are given out on the day, don't miss out winning a ball by being unfinancial. Please check with Cheryl Ward of myself that you have paid your $22 for 2023.

Women's Pennants

The Bronze III team had their first game last Friday at Pennant Hills. They were unfortunately defeated by Muirfield 3/2. It was a glorious day and the course was magnificent. This week they will play Killara at Castle Hill. Good luck to everyone.

Upcoming Women's Events

Foursomes Championships - Tuesday 6 June: The sheets are out in the locker room for the Foursomes Championships. This is a scratch event drawn in divisions and played over two consecutive weeks. The lowest marker of the pair will determine the division the pair competes in.

Medal Round 5 - Tuesday 20 June: As there have been some problems with the medal timesheets the next medal round will be manually drawn. The sheets are out in the locker room now for this medal round so please get your names down as soon as possible.

Invitation Day - Thursday 22 June: There is a sheet out in the locker room for Invitation Day. Your team must have at least one visitor to win. Teams of four members will be able to play but cannot win the event of the day but will only be eligible for the ball competition. The entry fee for your guests is $25 which should be placed in an envelope with their name and golflink number. Members pay the normal green fee at the Pro Shop on the day.

The Singles Knockout final: This was played last Thursday between Monica Shon and Karol Hwang. It was a great match and Karol was eventually declared the winner. Congratulations to you both for reaching the final.

Biggest Morning Tea Next Tuesday, 16 May

Please bring along some savoury items and delicious, wickedly good, tasty biscuits, cakes and/or slices to sell/buy on the day. Please wrap the food and label them with the ingredients. Your donations can be left at the Halfway Bar either before you play or after your game. Even if you are not playing you could come along, have a coffee and catch up with your friends.

It's not too late to contribute something very special which can be added to the raffle baskets. Don't forget CASH for tickets and purchases.

Open for Lunch Tuesdays

From Tuesday 23 May the Tuesday after the Biggest Morning Tea we are excited to announce the Dragon on the Green is open for Lunch and accordingly, the Women's presentations will be conducted upstairs in the Restaurant.

There will be a special short lunchtime menu with favourites such as Duck Spring Rolls, San Choy Bow, Satay Chicken, Mongolian Beef, watch this space for the full menu next week.

Plus there will also be some of your favourite toasty selections available. Put it in your diary to join us from Tuesday the 23 for lunch 11:30am - 2:30pm.

Come and join us for free trivia on Wednesday night 7pm in the Main Bar for a night of fun and exercise for you brain! Bring your answers to this question for an extra point.
