Course Works

Our new Practice Nets were opened officially last Saturday by our Club Captain, Glenn Woodley seen enjoying a few swings.

Finally underway you will have noticed the 18th green re build project. Our shaper, Craig Brown has been making good progress but unfortunately the recent days of rain have slowed and finally stopped progress. Hopefully over the weekend the site dries out enough to continue.

Due to these current rain delays we do not envisage opening the new green until March 2022.

Members' Booking Rules Finish Nov 30

Vets' Hams Day
Monday 13 December

In view of the restricted number of games played this year due to the pandemic, we will not be distributing hams as we have done traditionally.  Uniquely for this year, hams will be distributed based of how well Members play on the day.

This year, we have 52 hams to give away and we wish to thank the Club for their generosity.  As in previous years, we will be playing a Best 3 out of 4 Round.  Those players representing the 3 top scoring teams, will each receive a ham.   The remaining 40 hams will be given to the top 40 Single Stableford scores, excluding any player who received a ham in the Best 3 out of 4 events.  In addition, there will be 36 balls handed out personally during the presentation to the next best 36 Single Stableford scores.  Therefore, in all, 88 players will win a prize!

Our Hams Day presentation will also allow us to present the Plaques to the winners of this year's Vets Championships.  Well done to all of you and we trust that you will be able to be at the Club for the presentation.

As already mentioned, the format for Hams Day will be a Best 3 out of 4 Round with a 2-tee start.  The total cost per player is $20 and will include the game, 2 drinks of beer, wine or soft drink, plus a sandwich.  It is hoped that 2022 will see the return of BBQs.

Lady Veteran's Party Day.

What a happy day last Thursday was.  The Auditorium was buzzing with talk and laughter.  It was such a fun day and so nice to see all the ladies together again, enjoying each other's company.

Compliments to the kitchen staff for the lunch, judging by the empty plates, it was a job well done.  To the staff in the bar and those serving the lunch, for working so hard to make our day a happy one.  To Glenn Woodley for allowing us to use two tees.

Sorry we forgot to draw the lottery until most had left.  The winners were: -

  • 1st prize of $100 won by Ronda Wood
  • 2nd prize of $60 won by Bev Boyer
  • 3rd prize of $40 won by Kerry Attenborough
Thank you to all the Ladies for your compliments and thanks, it was a great day to end our season. Merry Christmas & Happy & Healthy New Year from your committee.

Marlene Peters - Delegate, Cheryl Ward, Judy Pengelly & Adele Sloane.

Fix your Pitch Marks

Repairing ball marks on the putting greens helps to maintain high-quality playing conditions on the courses you play.  But it is important to repair these ball marks correctly with the proper tools and techniques.

The proper technique for ball mark repair is easy and fast.

Insert the ball mark repair tool behind the ball mark and gently pull the top of the tool toward the centre (Not upwards). Continue working around the ball mark, pulling the surrounding turf in toward the centre of the indentation. Avoid using a lifting or twisting motion because this can damage turf roots. Once you have finished pulling turf in toward the centre, gently tamp the area down with your putter to create a smooth, firm surface. For a full how to video on pitch repair click here,

Volunteers

The Club is still looking for some more volunteers to help us with the following:

- Pick up sticks and twigs on the course
- Repair Divots
- Repair Pitch Marks
- Run our Summer Nine and Dine evenings in December & January.

As a community Club it is our volunteers that help make this Club so great.

So if you're interested please put your hand up and offer your time and skills. Just email our GM Graham Dale gm@northrydegolfclub.com.au or phone 9887 4422
