Women's Report

Stroke Round Tuesday, 26 September:  You will notice when you book for the Stroke round on Friday that there are only bookings available on one tee.  This is a one-off occurrence to accommodate the two-day School Holiday Junior Coaching Camp.

Club Championships:  The Club Championships are coming up in October. This is a stroke play event played over 72 holes in 4 divisions. It is played in October/November on two Tuesdays and two Sundays. The dates are Tuesday, 17 & 24 and Sunday, 29 October with the final on Sunday 5 November. The two Sunday rounds are a seeded draw for all divisions, for the top twelve players in each division.

I encourage you to consider playing in the Club Championships as we need twelve qualifiers in each division. If you wish to qualify you must be able to play both Sunday rounds. There is a link to click on the head of the website bookings screen where you can indicate that you wish to qualify and are available to play both Sunday rounds. Click on the link (See image re: Club Championship Qualifying above) and then click on any of the 'BOOK ME' spots available.  This simply indicates you are available to qualify, not who you are playing with. After confirming qualification, you will still need to book your Tee Time for the 1st round.

Women's AGM Thursday, 5 October at 7pm:  You should have received the Notice of Meeting for the Women's AGM. We hope to see you there. If you are unable to make it, there is a sheet in the locker room for apologies and another sheet where you can indicate that you will be attending the AGM. This will help us with catering arrangements.

Any items for discussion should be emailed to ladies@northrydegolfclub.com.au prior to the AGM.

There are a variety of volunteer roles available for the entire tournament week, with some bringing you right up and close to the all the action on the fairways. Still on the lookout for more people to join the volunteer team with specific needs focused on the two biggest days; Thursday and Friday. Roles requiring the largest number of volunteers include Marshalling; TV Production and Media.

All volunteers will receive an official shirt, hat, refreshments & lunch on each rostered day, along with four any-one day passes for a guest (valued at $120). Volunteers may be invited to play in a golf day post event at the host clubs, with priority given to those who volunteer the greatest number of shifts.

Darts

Inaugural A Grade Victory in Our Stunning New Sports Bar: What a start to Sydney's most impressive new dart facility and how good does it look!

Up against a very tough Gladesville Gators side this Wednesday, 20 September and with 4 of the regular team out of action, the boys had to scramble just to put a side together. With a phone call to our young pennant golfer and dart enthusiast Dan Fazzolari, along with the return of team member and A Grade Snooker champion Rob Crane (yet another multi talented sportsman in this team) - the line up was now complete.

With Dan's impressive contribution in the doubles of (46.29 - 3DA = 3 x Dart Average) the team went to a 5-4 lead at the break. With singles to come and needing 3 more wins (of 6) to seal the match, the Gators fought back hard and really applied the pressure to edge in front 6-5, however we still had our big guns to come! Greg " The King " Bowen demolishing his opponent in straight sets single with a match high 3DA (of 59.08) backed up as usual by " The Croc's", with Dell also in a straight sets romp and skipper Tommy bringing home the bacon in a very high standard best of 3 nail biter to clinch an extremely gutsy 8-7 victory and remain the outright A Grade leaders!

B Grade boys played away to The Misfits hung in for a tight 6 all draw that has kept them in the hunt and remain in 3rd position - so well done to them.

Most importantly - as per the photo what an impressive looking new darts set up we have in this fantastic sports bar. Our opposition were gob smacked as to how classy it is and our boys just love it.

We also want to welcome everyone to come along & not just support our teams but we encourage them to also have a throw and enjoy / learn this fantastic game at this fantastic venue!!

SPECIAL THANKS - to Russ (Rusty) Fennell who in his own time, put our vision together with his exceptional skill, meticulously crafting and making this dart facility into something very special!

Many thanks mate from all of us.

Moon - (El Capitán) A Grade Team

Meet Harry

New to the Bar this week we introduce Harry Buckley. Harry is a keen Golfer and has enjoyed playing consistently over the last 4 years, currently sitting on a handicap of 12. He started his golfing at the young age of 10 at Concord Golf Club (we won't hold that against him) and having never played at North Ryde is looking forward to being able to, when he is not working at the Club or studying.

Harry is enjoying studying at Macquarie University doing a double degree in Cyber Security and Commerce. Harry also loves to surf the waves, particularly at Freshwater, has a passion for music having played the piano for 13 years and more recently the last 5 years learning the guitar. Have to say with a fair bit of admiration, he's a bit of an all-rounder.

Now that you have meet Harry on paper or rather on screen, say hi when you get to meet him in person.
