Sports Lunch Roundup

Hello to my NRGC family, I'm excited to report on last Friday's successful Sports Lunch hosted by NRGC.

Finally, we have well and truly broken the shackles of Covid's hold on the Club's social events. Hot on the heels of our successful Commemoration Dinner Dance, last Friday saw the Club host its first Sports Lunch in two years.

To say it was a resounding success is an understatement, it was a tremendous afternoon on all counts. First it was almost a full house with 92 attendees at the event, we still had a bit of room to allow for more attendees so I urge you to join us next time. It was both a serious and hilarious look at sport from yesteryear through to today.  To all .....

FREE LIVE MUSIC next Sunday 9 October.  Put the date in your diary - all welcome to join us whether to listen some great music by the Bandits or to support family/friends who were our competition winners in September.  The Bandits Duo featuring songs from the King to Crowded House and more, are Sydney's most versatile acoustic duo. Featuring  ACE award winners on vocals and guitar, Paul and Conrad have the harmonies, showmanship and song list to keep the toughest audience happy.

Super Intendent Report

Light Topdressing of Sand on Greens - Why do we do it?   This maintenance practice 'topdressing with sand on the greens' is used to provide desirable playing conditions for a golf putting green.

The benefits of sand topdressing improves the surface smoothness/firmness. From a golfer's perspective this provides a more consistent ball roll. The light sanding is rubbed in directly after application and does not affect playability.

Vale Connie Netterfield

It is with our deepest regret we advise our members that Connie (Constance May) Netterfield passed away Monday 14 September 2022 aged 94 years.

Connie joined North Ryde Golf Club in 1985 and remained a member for 37 years. She was an integral part of the Ladies/Associates Committee including taking on the role of Ladies (Associates) President in the years 1997-1999. Contributing also to the community through Rotary and as a Ryde City Councilor she will be remembered for her love of life and contributions to her community. She will be deeply missed by Family and friends.

Beloved of Ron, loving mother of Paul and Kay (dec), mother-in-law and friend to Suzy, Gran to Robin and David (dec) and Grannan to Alex. Connie was farewelled on Tuesday 27 September at Macquarie Park Crematorium.
