Course Report

This week we took delivery of our second Electric Tru-Turf greens roller, even though electric, this has ample power, traction and stability on the steepest of inclines. These rollers are exceptionally quiet and well balanced to produce an evenly rolled putting green surface with the ability to roll all 18 greens on a single charge. Endorsed by the PGA the Tru-Turf lightweight rollers create a billiard table-like surface without compacting the soil beneath, resulting in better soil structure and healthier grass.

Like St Andrews, Augusta and Pebble Beach we have chosen this minimal-footprint roller to produce a superior putting surface more quickly, more meticulously for our Members.

Last Tuesday evening, 21 February we were hit again with a summer storm, receiving 75mm in North Ryde. Although we suffered some impact as pictured below, the repair to the damage is well under way. Other clubs such at Terry Hills Golf Club (not too far away) were not as lucky receiving 140mm in a short space of time.

Major Pennants

Last Sunday, 19 February we played Cumberland on our home ground.  After going down to Cumberland the prior week we were determined to turn the tables.

Cumberland started strong with North Ryde fighting back after the first 9, but even with excellent golf being played on both sides North Ryde claimed the victory - final score 4 1/2 to 2 1/2. This puts us tied with Cumberland for 2nd place. See snap shot of the days results.

This coming Sunday (26 Feb) it's head to head with Dunheved on their home course - 11am. Dunheved is only 1/2 a point ahead of North Ryde & Cumberland. This is shaping up to be a very tight competition for the 2023 Major Pennants. Please come along and support the boys.

On behalf of the Major Pennant team, we want to thank again our caddies for their efforts and to those members that came out to support the team. It's much appreciated.

3 Holes in One

Last Saturday, 18 February winners were certainly grinners with three 'Holes in One' achieved by three of our members.  Pictured left to right is the always smiling Jackson Fennell; maybe with a bit more of a grin having hit his Hole in One on the 14th, next to Jackson is the lovable larrikin Mick Flaherty achieving the best shot you can do on the 6th and then a very happy Steve Callaghan making his magic shot on the 10th.

A hole-in-one is a very memorable event for any golfer and is something golfers can fail to achieve in a lifetime of playing golf making Saturday certainly something special for these three Golfers. Congratulations Boys!

Fun Facts

While no introduction maybe necessary for staff member Chelleigh Davidson, who has been serving our members and visitors with a smile in the Club for just over a year, we thought we would celebrate her time with us and share some fun facts about Chelleigh.

One side of Chelleigh you may not know is she loves to camp, getting out of the big smoke when she can.  Both she and her partner are currently on a hunt for a Caravan to add a little luxury to these escapes.

The other side of Chelleigh is her crafting side, a passionate beader making all things glam from bangles, necklaces, rings and the occasional Christmas ornament (see if you can see the Angel at the front desk). In fact, beading can almost over take Chelleigh's home with her partner suggesting she sell more projects/jewellery before purchasing the latest lot of beads.

Chelleigh the Camper and Crafter brings not only her sunny personality but almost 20 years of experience in the industry to the Club always ready to help our Members & Visitors. Thanks Chelleigh!
