Course Report

As Spring is fast approaching the green's team will be seen starting our fairway renovations next week with de thatching which removes excess root and leaf matter that is laying just below the surface. This process will take 2-3 days and when finished provides a healthier plant with a better draining profile, the recovery will not take very long, with very little surface disruption.

In conjunction with our greens renovations September 5 & 6 contractors will be coring the fairways to aerate the saturated profiles.

Charity Day for The Shepherd Centre

Tuesday 9 August was the first Charity Day at the club for 3 years and what a day it was!

Through the extraordinary generosity of the women Members and their guests, the Club itself, the Pro shop, along with the efforts of all the staff in the office, the bar and the kitchen. Not to mention some retail shops in the area and the Womens' Committee. It was a great success.

Nicola Norris from The Shepherd Centre attended the function. She spoke passionately about the program and was thrilled with the result. This contribution will assist The Shepherd Centre to continue its valued work. Together we have raised $6000.

Congratulations one and all,

Eve Sheppard - Womens' President

Womens' Update

As you can see the Charity Day held this week was a great success.  As far as the golf was concerned the weather forecasters were wrong about the weather and the 106 ladies who played totally enjoyed the Irish Stableford. Division I winners were Linda Cho, Myung Hee Kim, Anna Lee & Kim Jun with 95 stableford points.  Division II winners were Margaret Beveridge, Rhonda Wood, Marcia Nash & Marcia Anderson with 92 Stableford points.

Weekend Pennants
North Ryde Weekend Ladies completed their final Pennant Game against Pymble. Unfortunately the Ladies went down 1.5-3.5 to the overall winners, Pymble. North Ryde came 4th in a tightly contested season which was a great result.

We thank all the players for representing NRGC.

Barbara Evennett - Womens' Captain

Reminder
Beer Price Increase

Dear Members, as previously mentioned in the 19TH NEWS reminding you of some important changes to beer prices which will come into effect from 1 September, 2022.

As you may be aware, the federal government impose twice-yearly beer excise increases in February and August each year.

The Club absorbed the February rise, however the government excise together with the ongoing pressure of supply chain rises which are being passed along by the producers are significant.

Naturally the beer producers pass along the government increase and like the rest of us, they have also cited additional imposts which are impacting their businesses including increases in the following:

  • Global shipping costs 250% - 300%
  • Aluminium 25% - 30%
  • Sugar 5% - 10%
  • Malt supply 15% -20%
  • Pulp and paper 5% - 10%
  • Global/domestic fuel costs 40% - 50%

Our priority is to ensure your club remains sustainable and that we may continue to provide safe and high-quality service at competitive rates.  Accordingly, in the main, we will increase prices by approximately 5% from 1 September.
