18th Green Construction

Exciting times ahead. Over the coming weeks we we'll start the re-modelling of our 18th green. All going well and with the weather behaving itself, the actual build time starting with the removal of the old green to the seeding of the new surface will be approximately 4-5 weeks.

Once seeding has taken place and allowed to bed in to the time the green will be open for play will be around in 10-12 weeks, taking completion to sometime in February 2022.

Charles Titmuss

Many of you may have noticed that long term NRGC member and current Chairman of the Veterans Committee Charles Titmuss, has been absent from the Club over recent months. The reason is that Charles has been in Royal North Shore Hospital during this period. We can confirm that Charles has remained in good spirits throughout and is keeping the nurses on their toes. He is due for another operation in November and will remain in hospital from now until his recovery.

His wife Kathy is being well looked after by her daughters who drive her every day to see her husband. On behalf of all NRGC members, we wish Charles a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him tee off again in the near future.

Beer Prices

As you may be aware, the federal government impose twice-yearly beer excise increases.

the Club absorbed the February 2021 rise, however in order to maintain margin, cover all associated costs and remain competitive, we have to pass on part of the increase with the new pricing to take effect from 1 November, 2021.

Enjoy the Races at North Ryde

This Saturday come watch The Golden Eagle from the comfort of the Club. Now Australia's second richest race in behind The Everest as well as the third richest turf race in the world.

The race boasts a total prize pool of $7,500,000 run over 1500m for 4YO horses with 10% of the prize money given to the winner's nominated charities.

The Golden Eagle, a race like no other and the perfect lead into Melbourne Cup next week!

Trivia: Last Wednesday we could have called it celebrity Trivia with competitors Super Nerd (Issa Schultz) and Tiger Mum (Cheryl Toh) from Channel 7's The Chase joining us and providing some heated competition. With good sportsmanship the theme of the night, celebrities posed with one of our long term members and self confessed Trivia addicts, Cathy Breen for some selfies.

New Practice Nets: This week saw us moving even closer towards using our new practice nets. with blocks delivered, and the bricklayer hard at work in the heat today. Next step is core-filling the blocks with concrete and then keep your eyes open for the synthetic turf and the nets to be erected.
