One in a Hundred

Another "1 in a 100 years" week comes to a close. How often have you heard that in recent times? Floods, pandemic, fires are some of the things we have had to deal with. Imagine what it must be like for Ukrainians right now - my heart goes out to them.

February was a particularly bad month, during which the Club, unsurprisingly, lost money. In my 25-odd years of playing at North Ryde, I cannot remember more than a couple of days when the Course was closed, however many Members do remember 1989 when the Course was closed for 59 days.

Your Board and Management has tried everything to get the Course open including considering all rough as GUR. But unfortunately.......

Course Report

Last Thursday the concreters were able to take advantage of the brief break in the weather to form up the final 18th and 11th pathways' work. Bunkers were also pumped and face repairs commenced. The paths were then poured on Wednesday. We are working towards getting the course back to the best conditions that is possible for when our players can come back.

The Course is currently closed until Tuesday 15 March at which time it will be assessed whether the Course may open on Wednesday. Please check the website for updates.

The Autumn Carnival Racing Season is now in full swing. Come watch the races, grab a pie and chips for only $8 (no further discounts apply) or one of the many other fabulous meals from the Dragon on the Green. This Saturday, March 12 is a super sports day with racing such as the Coolmore Classic Day at Rosehill, Australian Cup at Flemington and the opening weekend of the NRL, it's all happening. Join us at the races, overlooking the best views in Ryde, enjoy the company, good food and of course Saturday's Happy Hour from 12 noon to 5pm,

Lady Veterans

Our Invitation Day is coming, Thursday 24 March (if the rain ever stops) an Irish 4BBB Teams Stableford.

Invite a guest, they must be a financial Veteran at their club and be fully vaccinated.

Enter names on sheets provided in the locker room with golf link numbers. To confirm, we also need your guest's full golf link number so we can enter their names on the computer.

Cost: $20 per player which must be paid by Tuesday 22 March.

Place entry money in an envelope with your NAME and put into the Vets' Event Box in our locker room.

Reminder North Ryde Lady Veteran's Fees are now overdue:
Place money ($22) in an envelope with your NAME and placed into the Vets' Event Box. New ladies who wish to join the North Ryde Lady Veterans, please see Cheryl Ward, Judy Pengelly, Adele Sloane or myself for an application form.

For the opportunity to play at other clubs you can also join the VWGA of NSW, the joining fee is $17. If interested ask for an application form.

A long time before many Golfers get back to Play

If you have not already supported many of the other flood relief requests, you might like to assist golf clubs in NSW with the recovery and rebuilding through the NSW Golf Foundation . All donations are fully tax-deductible and every dollar raised from the Golf NSW Flood Relief Fund will directly assist golf clubs to repair or rebuild damaged infrastructure property and replace destroyed equipment. www.golfnsw.org.au
