Excitement is Building!

Excitement is building in the Club as we prepare to welcome our Members back! October 11 is a day to celebrate being able to once more come together. In fact we will be celebrating throughout the week, as current restrictions will be relaxed and we look forward to opening our doors to all who have had their double vaccinations.

Monday 11 October we will be kicking off the celebration with a 2hr $4.50 drinks Mega Happy Hour with complimentary snacks from 5pm to 7pm.

Wednesday 13 October our much loved restaurant Dragon on the Green will open for lunch and dinners (see details of opening days & times below). Wednesday night sees the popular return of Trivia, so start getting your teams organised (maximum group bookings of 10).

Friday 15 October is Fun Fridays in full swing again with Happy Hour (5pm-7pm), Meat Raffles and Members Cash Draw!

Saturday 16 October we welcome back our racing friends to sit back and enjoy the Everest, the richest race in Australia to kick off Super Saturday Race Days, with happy hour from 12noon-5pm

Please note: Opening of all venues are under current capacity restrictions, double vaccination proof required on entry, maximum seating groups of 10, all patrons must be seated while eating and drinking indoors. Wearing of masks indoors is mandatory unless eating or drinking.

3 Oct 2021 - Daylight Saving Time Starts

This Sunday, 3 October clocks are turned forward 1 hour at 2am to 3am local time.

So, if you are not staying up late on Saturday, or rather starting early on Sunday morning, remember to turn your analogue clocks forward one hour ready for Sunday. Wonderful to have those longer and warmer twilight evenings once again, perfect for a game of golf at the end of the day!

An interesting fact is Daylight Savings Time is also sometimes called Spring Forward or Spring Ahead to help remind people to move their Clock forward. Daylight Savings is known around the world under many different names and was first introduced in 1908 in Thunder Bay, Canada. However, the idea did not catch on globally until Germany introduced DST in 1916.

Farewell to the Old Practice Nets

This week saw the demolition of our old practice nets, to make way for the remodelling of the new 18th green. Due to supplier constraints, there will be a period where there will be no nets while we eagerly look forward to the construction of the new facility. We will keep you updated on the progress.

Wed 13 October Open for Lunch & Dinner!

Opening week sees the Dragon on the Green opening for not only Takeaway but also sit-down Lunch and Dinner on Wednesday 13 October. From then on, the Opening Hours are as follows:

Lunch: Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays 11:30am to 3pm
Dinner: Wednesdays to Sundays inclusive 4:30pm - 8:30pm

Members Booking in Fours

Don't forget to be part of a 4's group Playing members need to have their certificate of vaccination verified by the Club. Either show your certificate to office staff during business hours or present it to Halfway Bar staff or to a Board member on duty.

For our members outside of the 5km radius who cannot at this time present their vaccination certificate in person, please confirm verbally by phone or email of your double vaccination status. On the day of your first game back with us you must then present proof of vaccination to the office or directors on duty.

Club Competitions

Club Championships & Major Events
This year's Club Championships will be played as per the 2021 fixture book with the Ladies on 19, 26, 31 October & 7 November 2021 and the Men's 23, 30 October, 6 & 7 November 2021. Due to the current COVID restrictions for outdoor public gatherings, those aged 16 or older who are not vaccinated will be unable to qualify for the final 2 rounds as those rounds are played in groups of 3. The Junior Club Championships will be played at a future date to be advised.

The Golf Committee has decided that the Men's Matchplay Championships, Commemoration Cup and Father & Son Trophy that have been missed over the last few months unfortunately will not be played this year.

Golf Competitions
With the recent changes to Outdoor public gatherings we have now again started to play a 2 Ball Team + Individual Stableford on Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday, with Monday, Tuesday & Thursday continuing to be Single Stableford. This will continue until 1 December when we will revert back to the fixture book. The current booking rules implemented on 17 September will also continue from 11 October when people outside the 5km can come back to playing and all our reciprocal agreements finish.

Keep Up to Date!

As October 11 Club Day approaches keep up to date with what's happening by following us on Facebook, Instagram, check the website and Club's App for details.

To ensure we remain a COVID Safe venue, we will be opening under current Health Orders with fully vaccinated staff, capacity restrictions, QR code sign-in, double vaccination proof required for entry, maximum seating groups of 10, masks to be worn at all times unless eating or drinking and all patrons to be seated while eating and drinking indoors.

While there are still safety rules to follow, we are all excited to welcome our patrons and their family and friends once more back to the club.
