Upcoming Christmas Golf Events

Wednesday 6 December

Turkey Day is approaching fast, being held Wednesday, 6 December with 2 shotgun starts at 7am and 12.15pm.

The Time sheet opens this Friday, 1 Dec at 6pm.
The cost is unchanged from last year at $40 for Members and $60 for guests.
Each group may invite one guest.
Remember to grab your sandwich and drinks voucher from the Pro-Shop on the day.

Book & Pay Online. Please note once booked and paid any changes need to be made through the office.

Join in the fun to win a Turkey for Christmas but remember, Turkeys won must be picked up on the Day. At least one player per group must be in the Clubhouse to receive the turkey (approximately 5pm). Turkey Day & evening is a popular annual Christmas event in the Club with FREE live music brought to you by the popular band 'The Bell', playing from 6pm-9pm. We thank Bennelong Legal once again for their sponsorship enabling us to provide this entertainment. Get ready to win your TURKEY and invite friends/family to party on.

Thursday 7 December

Next Thursday, is Women's Hams Day - playing a 2 Ball Team + Individual Stableford. The cost of the day is $40, book online and pay at Pro Shop on the day. Bookings open 5pm Friday, 1 December.

Don't forget to collect your sandwich and drink vouchers from the Pro-shop for use on the day.

There will be a presentation of the hams around 2:30pm downstairs in the Halfway Bar, be there to collect your ham if you are a winner. If you can't be there please ask someone to collect it for you.

Saturday 9 December

Another favourite event on our Christmas Calendar is Hams Days next Saturday, 9 December. Bookings open 6pm Monday, 4 December.

The cost is unchanged from last year at $40, this also included sandwich and drink vouchers to be collected in the Pro-Shop on the day.

Presentation of hams to the winning teams will be at the Clubhouse from 5:30pm. If your group are amongst the lucky/skilled winners, remember at least one of your group must be there to collect the hams - uncollected hams will go to the next best scorecard.

Monday 11 December

This is the final reminder for our Hams Day on 11^th December. We advised you that those who had played 16 games prior to our Hams Day would qualify for a ham. This remains unchanged. A list of Members who have qualified for a ham, is now on the Notice Board.

Cost: $30 which includes the game, our renowned Sausage Sizzle, plus 2 drinks of either beer, wine or soft drink. Same as in 2022.

Game Format: Individual Stableford and Best 3 out of 4 Stableford. Two tee start.

Bookings Open 6pm Wednesday, 6 December payment on the day with collection of vouchers.

We look forward to seeing you on Vets' Hams Day and importantly, this year's Vets Championship winners will be presented with their plaques prior to the distribution of the Hams.

Thursday 14 December

Join us for more fun prior with fellow golfers and friends with an evening of Twilight Nine and Dine on Thursday, 14 December. Bookings Open Wednesday, 6 December 5pm - 8 days prior to the event.

Cost is $40 for Members and $55 for Visitors, pay online prior to the event.

Details:
1. Shot-gun start using the first 9 holes at 4pm
2. Carts available
3. Drink voucher (value $5) & Food voucher (value $20)
4. Prizes to be confirmed based on field size
5. Mixed 2 Ball - with an individual for Women and Men

Junior Wrap Up 2023

A massive congratulations to all of our Juniors and Cadets with their hard work and dedication paying off. We have seen a huge number of cadets transforming into Junior members and our current junior golfers taking great strides in improving their games and growth as members. Big achievements of multiple holes in one, JNJG victories and Junior Pennants/Encourage Shield competitiveness.

It has been great seeing so many Juniors/Cadets putting in so much effort coming up to practice and compete against one another to improve their game - we cannot wait to see where this takes our future stars of the game.

We had big changes to our annual school holiday golfing camp, hosting it here at NRGC over two days shutting the front 9. We had a total of 6 coaches between 50 kids who ranged from beginners to junior members, we can only see this camp getting bigger and better with the years to come.

Huge thank you to the Board of North Ryde Golf Club for allowing us to close 9 holes to accommodate the camp. Also thank you to the Veteran Committee for missing their Monday game and the Ladies Committee for playing off 1 tee on the Tuesday, we certainly could not have held the camp without your co-operation.

The Juniors & Cadets enjoyed an end of year party and presentation evening last Friday 24 November giving us the opportunity to highlight some of these wins. A big thank you to Junior Captain Yu Wang & Vice Captain Elijah Chahine for putting the effort in during their own time to volunteer for all juniors. Also, the parents, volunteers and coaches for all being a part of such a successful year.

Vet's Round Up

Vet's Hams Day will be our last game for the year. Our first game for 2024 is scheduled for Monday, 22 January followed by Monday, 29 January.

As this is the Vets' Committee's last contribution for the year, we take this opportunity to thank all of you for your valued support during the year and we hope that you will be able to show the same level of support again throughout 2024.

Veteran Women's Party Day

The tables were set, the food was served, the trophies were presented, the raffle was drawn.

The room was buzzing with happy smiling faces & tongues were wagging, what a wonderful Veterans Party Day.

Once again I would like to thank our members who came, to everyone who donated a trophy or a prize for the raffle, the office staff and the bar staff for their help to make our day a great success.

The Photos from the day will be available to view from the Members page in the next week.

On behalf of the Veteran's Committee, we wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year & good golfing in 2024.

Women's Presentation Day

A fantastic end of year celebration, with over 110 members attending with some lovely raffle prizes drawn on the day. Although the weather was a little inclement, the field of golfers with their one club, one putter excelled our front 9 winners were Dagmar Pysik and Jan Steele with runners up Jane Youm and Young Kim. Back 9 winners were Jan Stuart & Cheryle May with runners up Julie Spalding & Jann Hughes.

The best dressed team were Robyn Bond, Robyn Hanlon, Pat Phillips and Betty Severino.

The many golf awards from the year were presented with photos taken of our smiling winners able to attend. There will be links to photos on the members page within the next week.

This Friday Hams Raffles Start

In the spirit of Christmas we start our Friday Night Ham's Raffles this week Friday, 1 December the first of four Friday night Ham Raffles leading up to Christmas. There will be 18 quality half Hams approx. 5kg every week, tickets on sale from 5:30pm - all welcome to buy a ticket.

Don't forget the Friday night Member's Cash Draw after the Ham's Raffle, this week is $1,900 up for grabs if your number is drawn and you're in the Club you get to claim the cash. If no one is in the Club to claim it then it JACKPOTS to $2,000 next Friday, 8 December where it's guaranteed to be WON! Remember, all Members, Playing or Social are eligible to win. You just have to be in the Club at time of draw and claim your prize. Keep an eye out on social media we will let you know if it JACKPOTS!

Movember

A great afternoon was enjoyed in the Club on Saturday 25 November for the Movember Presentation of raffle prizes and some banter and great information on the Movember movement and how it's helping and highlighting the issues of men's health in our community by. Celebrity presenter on the day was Steve Marshall (Channel 9 Current Affairs reporter).

The online silent action was also launched, so click the link below to make a bid to rub shoulders and play a round of golf with a sporting celebrity, bid on sporting collectables, fine dining experience for 6 guests and more. Your bid/donation could help save a father, a brother, a son, a friend, a partner, a man's life.

The silent auction runs until 6pm Monday 4 December.

Meet Monte

Meet Monte Pytka our latest addition to the North Ryde Golf Club Staff Team. I think I would certainly label Monte a local, living just down the road in West Ryde. Not new to working behind the bar, she comes with over 4 years of experience but like any job there are differences, so she is certainly happy to learn and always with a fabulous smile. Monte like some of our other staff has a passion for sport, one of these passions was training for competitive swimming this has now moved to Rugby and heading into the pre-season playing for Gordon. She loves the physical challenge of this and possibly no surprise, her other hobby is rock climbing. If fact, Monte loves anything outdoors so add to this bush walking and camping. Monte also admits that her other split personality is gym junkie and if she can will be there 6 days a week. Maybe not surprisingly she is on the last legs of a personal training certificate.

Don't hesitate to say G 'Day and welcome Monte to the North Ryde family when you see her serving at one of the Bars in the upcoming weeks.
