Course Update

The 14th bunkers are well advanced with the next step of installation of the bunker liner completed now that we've had some clear weather over the last couple of days. We were very pleased to see how well the bunkers held up during the heavy rain early in the week.

Pathway Upgrade - As you will have seen, the pathway that runs in front of the 1st Tee, alongside the 10th tee has been slowly degrading, becoming a trip hazard. The rubber-rock surface was removed a few weeks ago and now to completely rectify your access, the existing pathways will be removed from Monday, 26 February and relayed consistent with the other new pathways around the course. We appreciate your patience while we work through the access issues. The final outcome will be well worth the minor inconvenience.

Course Renovations Monday, 11 and Tuesday, 12 March - Soil testing has taken place on the greens in preparation for upcoming greens renovation. Please mark in your diaries we are closed for play over these two days.

Women's Report

Congratulations to Marlene Peter's on her 90th birthday, celebrated by both the women players and the staff of the club on Tuesday, 20 February.

Marlene is a very active playing member, playing on Tuesday with Pat Phillips, Jan Durham and Una Flanagan as a group and together they totalled 340 years of life experience. What an inspiration Marlene is, not only on the course, where on Tuesday in the Stroke Medal Round Marlene shot a Nett 68, but by her continued running of Women's Vets for North Ryde. To view images of Marlene's celebrations within the Club including those last week with mahjong friends at the restaurant click this LINK.

Summer Cup:  The Summer Cup was run over seven rounds throughout December and January with points awarded each week for winning and participating.  Elizabeth Sung was the winner this year with 13 points.  Runner up was Soojin Park with 11 points closely followed by Soo Ha in third place with 10 points.  Congratulations to you all.

A Great Start for Darts

A hard match for the NRGC Tigers on Wednesday 14 February the start of the Darts competition for 2024 versing Hornsby RSL. The Tigers were on the back foot all night until Horacio and Captain Matt won the last 2 games. A great fightback for a draw - maybe the new Tigers shirts helped spur them on!

Our A Grade Team also came out on top winning their first round on Wednesday, for their start of the season.

Saturday 17 February also saw another great night at NRGC for the Darts season presentation.  The club has become the place to be for our darts teams and their supporters while enjoying the sports bar action.

Last night Wednesday, 22 February was another tough match for the NRGC Tigers Vs the Garry Owen team, down 6-5 Captain Matt once again brough the team home and checked out with 114 for another draw.

Life is like a round of golf

With many a twist and turn,

But the game is much too sweet and short

To curse the shots you've missed.

Sometimes you'll hit it straight and far

Sometimes the putts roll true.

But each round has its wayward shot

And troubles to play through.

So always swing with courage

No matter what the lie.

And never let the hazards

Destroy the joy inside.

And keep a song within your heart

Give thanks that you can play.

For the round is much too short and sweet

To let it slip away.

May we all keep the joy inside.
